thesmartclub is pleased to advise that we will be running our 10th Hambach trip in May this year and we are working hard to make this trip even more enjoyable and smart filled. For those of you who have been on these visits in previous years, you will know that this annual 'pilgrimage' to Hambach, is as much about smart, the car and the production processes, as it is about socialising with a group of diverse and like minded smart enthusiasts - for many, it's an annual vacation. SUPPORT thesmartclub continues to ensure that we provide the most comprehensive levels of support prior to, during and after the event in terms of information, pricing, Road Books, driver and car support and, of course, superb accommodation and dining. Our aim is, and has always been, to ensure that you enjoy the many aspects of the smart world without having to worry about logistics. WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE?
The only additional costs for which you may be liable are fuel, evening meal in Dover (if applicable), Sunday breakfast on the ferry, lunch/snacks (although those people participating on the Factory visit will have lunch provided as part of the package on the Monday), drinks at smartville and Saarbrucken etc, motorway tolls, travel insurance and any fines imposed for traffic violations (!) PRICING We are all too aware of the downturn in the global economy and the impact of the €uro/GB Pound exchange rate. This volatile exchange rate has meant that direct costs to us for our Hambach trip alone have been tricky to manage but as with all previous years, our aim is to make this a social, smart filled visit for you, the smart enthusiast. As such, we keep all our direct costs as low as possible and pass on the superb deals and savings we have negotiated into the package price. The increased pricing across many of our European partner organisations has meant it's been a challenge to keep our costs low and we have been working exceedingly hard to provide you with THE most cost effective package for 2010. I am delighted to say that we have managed to maintain our same high standard Hotel(s) and travel logistics AND expand the content of the Event but we have maintained truly competitive pricing. This year's 2010 trip is similar in duration and logistics to the 2008 Event. Since 2008, the GB Pound has fallen by over 18% against the €uro BUT, even if the Hotels, coach firms, ferries and restaurants had kept their prices static for that two year period, our 2010 Hambach event prices are the same or slightly cheaper than our original 2008 prices when lined up against these exchange rate fluctuations. Given that third party prices have actually increased over that same period, we believe that the 2010 Event represents superb value. What's more, you can even spread the cost in two equal interest free instalments should you so require. Want an even better deal? Our 'Privilege/Membership Card' holding members benefit from a discount averaging 4.0% off the standard prices shown below. At these rates, the entire cost of your one year's Membership of thesmartclub has already been recovered in the saving you make on this trip alone! APPLICATION PROCESS Each year we receive online applications at an initial rate of three per minute and we plan to have around 40 places available on this 2010 trip. Application Forms will launch ONLINE at 0700hrs UK time on Wednesday 17th March 2010. Our offline Members (with no internet access) can apply by phone from that time onwards and full details will be mailed by post in advance of the launch date. Any and all Applications received will only be valid if payment for the whole package price (or first monthly instalment) is instructed at the time of Application. We will confirm success of all Applications to Applicants as soon as possible after the time of Application. In the event of any Application being made after maximum numbers have been reached, any associated Payment instruction will be cancelled and no monies will be debited from (or a full refund will be immediately made to) the Applicant's debit/credit card.

For those people who are travelling some distance, or simply for those people who wish to be near the SeaFrance terminal prior to our early Sunday morning departure, we have block booked the Premiere Inn, Dover East for the night of Saturday 15th May. thesmartclub always tries to ensure that we have the best Hotel at the best possible rates and we will again be using Victor's Hotel Saarbrucken, the four star hotel we have used since 2003. The Hotel is just over the border from the smart factory in Hambach and close to the smart centre in Saarbrucken. Representatives of thesmartclub have already visited this Hotel towards the end of last year and I am certain that you will find the Hotel a really excellent selection with a fitness centre, pool, sauna and secure underground parking. We will be staying in this Hotel on the nights of 16th, 17th and 18th May. The accommodation provided is on a half board basis (superb dinner, bed and breakfast) plus full complimentary use of the Hotel facilities.

If you elect to pay in two equal monthly instalments, the first instalment is payable at the time of booking and the second will be automatically collected one month later. Completing the application on or after the Application Form launches indicates your intention to go on this trip, acceptance of the Terms & Conditions and, if your application is received prior to us reaching our maximum numbers, it is highly likely that your application will be successful. Any applications reaching us AFTER the maximum numbers have been reached will be placed on our Reserve list - in this case we will refund your deposit/package price immediately. You will receive an email acknowledging your application and, once our maximum numbers have been reached, we will personally email you to advise if your application has been successful or whether you are on the Reserve list.

CANCELLATION thesmartclub has committed costs to the relevant companies forming the basis of this trip including SeaFrance, Travel Inn, Best Western, smart's catering company (La Toque Maison), smart and smartville Hambach. As such, we are committed to a range of cancellation charges that will be payable in the event of one or more members cancelling their places on this trip. In the circumstances, we are including the same range of cancellation penalties. Note that these are in addition to your consumer rights and you also have the option to cancel with full refund any time within 10 days of us receiving your application. If you cancel your application outside of the period above, the following penalties will be imposed:

Please note that the Application Form will also seek to determine any special dietary requirements you may have regarding the Hotel and any other special requirements you may have (access etc). We pass such details on to the Hotel and whilst we will endeavour to ensure that hotels/transport companies seek to match such needs, thesmartclub cannot guarantee that such requests will always be met. The factory at Hambach (smartville) is a working factory. The visit is preceded by an audio visual presentation (in English) but not subtitled. The tour around the factory itself is on the basis of a walking tour and audio commentary (via headphone/radio microphone facility) from an English speaking guide who will also answer questions you may have at any time. Please note that the factory does not provide any wheelchair assistance or wheelchair facilities although access is possible if any visitor provides their own wheelchair. There is no added assistance provided by the factory or facilities for those individuals with any audio or visual impairment. thesmartclub stresses that any individuals requiring wheelchair assistance or audio/visual assistance strongly assess the suitability of this event prior to submitting an Event Application Form given the logistical implications imposed on us by the venues and facilities being provided. In addition, we have been advised that once the coach has taken the Groups from the Communication Centre to the production facilities, there is a 'reasonable' walk from the coach to the Magna Steyr production facility. Please note that the factory does not provide any wheelchair assistance or wheelchair facilities although access is possible if any visitor provides their own wheelchair. Please therefore note that the coach is not a 'door to door' service and if you or your partner/guest has any mobility problem with regards to walking between the production facilities and walking through the production facilities on this tour, consideration should be given to the suitability of this particular element of the Event. Note that logistics and assistance within the production facility are outside of the control of thesmartclub ltd. DISCLAIMER thesmartclub ltd will not be responsible in any way for the loss or damage to individuals property howsoever caused. This booking shall be deemed as agreement to indemnify thesmartclub ltd, their staff and volunteers as part of the Organisational Team of thesmartclub ltd against all and any claims which may arise. thesmartclub ltd shall not be liable for the death or injury to, or for damage to any property or for any losses, or for any other liability incurred by the individual. If thesmartclub ltd is unable to perform any of its obligations by reason of circumstance, cause or event outside its control including (without limitation of the generality of this clause) government restrictions, adverse weather, riot, commotion, act of God, industrial breakdown, breakdown of plant or any failure of gas water services, electricity, etc, thesmartclub ltd shall be entitled to be relieved of its obligations hereunder to the extent to which performance of the obligations is prevented, frustrated or suspended. In such circumstances non-performance, part performance or delay in performance of the obligations of thesmartclub ltd hereunder shall not entitle you to claim damages of any kind whatsoever whether direct, indirect or consequential.
